From Adult Sunday School Class message, delivered on June 8, 2014 by Frank DeJuana entitled Perfecting Holiness #5 in Trinity Baptist Church, Montville, New Jersey.

The purpose of the Apostle Paul’s writing of I Timothy 3:14-16 was to instruct the young pastor, Timothy, about how church members should conduct themselves in the house of God. In chapters 2 and 3 he wrote about the conduct in prayer meeting, the roles of men and women and the qualifications of elders of the church.

Paul conveyed that the function of the church (members) is to reflect the image of God and to promote the Gospel through their conduct. The Church is…

Ang Kasalanan ay Pakikipaglaban sa Dios

0

Katotohanan Tungkol Sa Isang Kristiano

0
IMG_0500

TBC Welcomes Joash Nigel

TBC brethren celebrate with Brother Raymar and Janet,in the birth of their baby, Joash Nigel. He was born on January 8 , and weighed 6.2 lbs. Janet gave birth in Lying-in Clinic in Sto Cristo San Pablo City.
Janet and Baby Nigel joined the church in worship service last Sunday. Indeed, Janet has quickly recovered from a relatively smooth delivery. God answered the church prayer for a safe delivery of a healthy baby.

Janet was given a baby shower by TBC ladies on the last Sunday of December. The sisters encouraged her through Bible verses showing God’s faithfulness. Some sisters gave symbolic gifts, while Lena and Lyn offered her a song…

Starting Right Where We Are

As sinners from birth, there is always the poison of envy in each of us. Some have more dose of Poison Envy such that their lives are ruled by this debilitating sin. An envious person tends to look at the blessings of others, be it their personal appearance, academic achievement, status in life or small successes like topping the exam or getting the best deal in a garage sale.

When a person looks at others, he becomes blinded with his own gifts and talents. He is stalled and can’t move forward to achieve progress. Thus envy is one ally of mediocrity. This we have to avoid and instead look at what…

Hello and Goodbye

0

Every time my daughter and her husband come home for Christmas or summer vacation, we are excited knowing that we will have a load of fun as a family. As a mother, I have to admit that I can’t be fully happy for I know that their two-week stay is fleeting and soon they will be flying away to the place where they live. I am sure this feeling is true to most people. This sentiment is expressed by the popular song of Sergio Mendes, “The Trouble with Hello is Goodbye.” And it is always…

The Tenses of Life: A Reflection for the New Year

IMG_0306

I was struck by the profound implication of the linking verbs “is” and “was”. Barely a month ago, my adviser in Graduate School died suddenly of cardiac arrest. He was highly respected in the academic community. He lived an exemplary life. My College prepared a necrological service and I was tasked to give an eulogy.

While composing my speech, I realized that I was always making a mistake with regards to tenses. I was writing is, when it should be was. He seemed so alive in my mind and to use the past tense is to accept that he has left the present. I then realized that the use of  “is”…

A Heartwarming Sight

IMG_0283
There was a slight drizzle when I got out of the car. I was heading towards the nearby ATM booth to replace my depleting budget. I opened my umbrella with pleasure, because it is a gift from my son and I remember him with fondness, as I admire the bands of color in my water-repellant umbrella. While walking towards the ATM booth, I noticed a man and a boy about nine to ten years of age who alighted from an old-model Toyota Corolla. The man later opened his wide umbrella for him and his son. They were several steps away from me and they were walking towards the bank as…
